Questions

How far in advance do I need to order wedding invitations? TOP
You should begin finalizing your invitations six months in advance. This allows time for production, addressing, and mailing.

How far in advance should I mail wedding invitations? TOP
You should mail wedding invitations 6-10 weeks in advance. We recommend shooting for closer to 10 weeks (or even 12 weeks) if it's a destination wedding, or if the wedding will take place during Wedding Season, i.e. May-October. This is the busiest season and you will want to make sure your guests put your event on their calendar first!

How far in advance should I mail save the dates? TOP
You should send a save the date card anywhere from 6-12 months in advance.

How far in advance should I send social invitations? TOP
One month in advance is standard for most social occasions, such as birthdays, graduation parties, showers, and dinner parties. Give longer notice if you will require guest responses two weeks or more before the event.

What is the proper way to send a thank you note? TOP
A thank you note should be a note written on personalized stationery; this can be a flat card or a folded note, and should be personalized with your name or monogram on it. It is not appropriate to send a note with the word "thank you" printed on it.

How long does it take for invitations to come in? TOP
That depends. Social invitations (other than wedding invitations) typically take about a week to come in if ordered from a catalog or album. Wedding invitations ordered from most of our albums take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to arrive. Custom invitations take anywhere from 4-8 weeks depending on quantity and complexity.

What if I can't make it to the store during business hours? TOP

No problem! We're happy to meet with you outside of our regular hours, with enough notice (usually a few days is sufficient). Call us to set something up!

Do I put down a deposit on invitations or pay in full? TOP
Payment in full at the time of the order is our policy. Unfortunately, sometimes weddings and events do get canceled, and this protects us and our time spent producing your order. Surprisingly, we have had numerous occasions where people never came back for something after it was ordered.

Do you have invitations in all price ranges? TOP
Yes! Absolutely! We are proud to offer quality products to fit any budget. Throughout the albums and the custom design line there are many, many options in every price range. Be as fancy as you'd like! Plain and simple more your style? No problem, we have options!

What is the industry average cost for wedding invitations? TOP
From the research we have found recently, the industry average is approximately $800 for 100 invitations. This is also consistent with the Dayton, Ohio market.

Can I order paper and make my own invitations? TOP
Absolutely! We're happy to help with any and all phases of the invitation process. If you'd like to pick out paper and have us order it for you to print yourself, we can do that! Just let us know how much help you need; we'll be involved as much or as little as you want us to be.

What if my invitations don't have inner envelopes? TOP

We get this question a lot, usually when it comes to custom invitations. The various sizes of pockets often prevent the availablity of inner envelopes, which poses the question, "How do I address the outer envelope correctly?" The answer there is to address the outer envelope to include the people who are invited. If it's a family, put "and Family" or list the children's names under the parents' names. If it's a single person with a guest, put "and Guest" on the envelope. We have oodles of other envelope addressing etiquette- stop by and we'll give you a printout of helpful tips!

What if I want to use a photo on my save the dates? TOP
Sure thing! We have a few companies that offer adorable save the date cards and magnets using photos. It's easy- just pick out the design and colors you like, email us your photo (or bring it in on a flash drive), and presto- you're done! And some of our photo save the dates are less than a buck apiece! Thrifty!

Is it appropriate to put registry information on wedding invitations? TOP
No! Everywhere you look there are big chain stores handing out little registry insert cards to "put in with your wedding invitations" stating where you are registered, but be warned this is very bad etiquette. The acceptable ways to provide registry information to your guests include: word of mouth, mention it on shower invitations, or via your personal wedding website (which you can absolutely list somewhere in the invitation packet).

What if I find a better price somewhere else? TOP
We'll meet or beat it! We want to earn your business, and we firmly believe that if you give us a chance, you'll become lifelong happy customers. Please don't hesitate to bring in a quote from any of our competitors and we'll do whatever we can to meet or beat it. Trust our loyal customers who will tell you- you'll love working with us!

What if I don't find what I'm looking for in the store? TOP
We can order it for you! Many of our vendors love to fill small orders, and most of these orders can be filled within a week. Specialty parties, particularly for children, can be difficult to find invitations for. We have a couple of great companies to turn to when looking for a party of any theme- dinosaurs, race cars, disco, you name it, they have it!

What else do you have besides invitations and stationery? TOP
I'm glad you asked! We have sooo many fun personalized products, it's hard to know where to begin. Let's see: luggage tags, melamine plates, place mats, stickers, book plates, address stamps, embossers, magnet boards, note pads, candles, mouse pads, paperweights, greeting cards, bookmarks, wedding favors, business cards, address books, gift wrap, luxury ribbon......want me to keep going? Come see for yourself!

When is a good time to order holiday cards? TOP
Honestly, the earlier the better because you can take advantage of early bird specials. Some companies offer free shipping for orders placed in September, others offer free return address printing on envelopes, others offer discounts of 10-20% off. The early bird definitely gets the worm when it comes to holiday cards! Plus, keep in mind most companies have holiday cutoff dates close to Thanksgiving. So don't wait until the last minute or you might miss out!

What is proper etiquette regarding whose parents are listed on wedding invitations? TOP
The rule of thumb goes like this: whoever is hosting the wedding, i.e. paying for the wedding, is named on the invitation in the "host" line, which is the first part of the invitation. So if the bride's parents are footing the bill, their names are listed at the top. Most couples these days like to mention the groom's parents as well, even if they are not helping pay for the wedding. This is a nice courtesy; in this case, the groom's parents are listed under the groom's name, i.e. "son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald McAbee." If both sets of parents are hosting, they are both listed at the top of the invitation. If the bride and groom are hosting, their names are listed only.

What is the time frame for sending out wedding thank you notes? TOP
This is a very important question: the best answer is obviously "as soon as possible." I recommend that brides and grooms start sending notes as they receive gifts, to avoid having a huge pile of notes to write all at once, presumably after they return from a relaxing week in Aruba. Writing thank you notes is going to be the last thing anyone wants to do after spending a week in the sun drinking Mai Tai's. The official answer: etiquette allows newlyweds no longer than three months after receiving a gift to send a written thank you note.

How many cocktail napkins should I order? TOP
It all depends on where you'd like to use cocktail napkins- if they are only for the bar, the general rule is 2-3 napkins per guest. If you're going to also use them for hors d'oeuvres and cake, you will want to err on the side of 3-4 per guest. A lot of couples decide to order 2 per person and then "fill in" with the generic napkins supplied by the caterers, baker, or bartenders.  Good advice? Order them with just the couple's names or monogram (do not include the wedding date) so if there are any leftover they can be used after the event at home.

Do I need to know all of my wording before I can order? TOP
Anyone who has worked with us will tell you that we are absolutely happy to walk you through wording of any invitation, whether it's for a wedding, shower, or birthday party. And we'll even come up with a rhyme, just for you. No kidding...ask us about our rhymes (which I wouldn't recommend for weddings, but for other parties they're fun!).

How long does it take to print an order? TOP
If it's an off-the-shelf boxed invitation order we usually have them printed the day of proof approval. Typical turn-around for anything in house is about 2-3 days tops. Depending on how busy we are, it can be as fast as 24 hours.

Is rush service available? TOP
Yes, on most products! Most companies will be willing to rush an order for a fee. This policy varies from company to company, but it's worth asking.

Do you offer wedding planning services? TOP
Yes, we do! We have a lot of experience in the wedding industry and would be happy to help plan your event. We can help throughout the planning process, or we can provide "day of" services to make sure everything runs smoothly the day of the wedding. We also know from experience (and from anecdotes from our customers) which vendors to suggest and which to steer clear of. Need a suggestion for a photographer or a florist? No problem, just ask!

Can I bring my own paper in to be printed? TOP
Most of the time, yes. We are able to print on most stocks as long as they aren't too incredibly heavy. We cannot print on vellum for many reasons, not the least of which is that it's terribly hard on printers and tends to melt. If you're wondering if we can print on it, bring in a sample and we'll try it out. Usually we can tell by looking at something whether or not it will print nicely.

Do you address envelopes? TOP
Yes! We offer in house envelope printing services, and have numerous fonts and ink colors to choose from. We prefer to print on envelopes we have supplied (since we know what works well and what doesn't), but we have successfully printed many envelopes from outside suppliers as well. We also have a brilliant calligrapher if you are interested in having your envelopes hand-addressed. Calligraphy is truly an art form, and therefore takes 2-4 weeks depending on quantity and complexity. In house envelope printing takes 1-2 weeks at the most. Just provide us with a spreadsheet and we'll do the rest!
